B. Lymans house

28 West Main Street 1836-1870 Federal style

This classic New England farmstead was built over a period of 34 years. Beginning with a main house constructed in 1836, it expanded to meet the changing needs of its owners, the connected buildings made it possible to do farm chores while remaining sheltered from inclement weather. The rambling configuration created an interior with numerous nooks and crannies. Ice cut from the Deerfield River in winter was stored in an icehouse that once stood behind the house. The large barn has been the 1936 Country Store since 1966.
