G. Childs/crafts house

16 West Main Street circa 1845 Green Revival style

In 1832 Adna Childs purchased the two lots where Memorial Hall and Crafts Inn now stand. The family lived in this house on the property. Childs, the first merchant in Mill Hollow, was a founder of the Wilmington Bank and the Universalist Church, postmaster for 24 years, and active in the Masonic lodge. The Crafts family later acquired the house when they took over operation of Childs Tavern.
