S. Barber Block

2 East Main Street circa 1850 Greek Revival style

Hardy Barber opened a men’s clothing and shoe store here in 1891, sharing space with the post office for a period of time. The store was a popular gathering place to play cards and catch up on the news. Subsequent uses included a harness shop, and American Legion meeting room, and office space. The building currently is owned by the town and used for offices.
