4 North Main Street 1931 Brick Commercial
For many years , this building was the home of Parmelee & Howe, a drugstore popular for its soda fountain. Charles Parmelee traded his farm for the corner drugstore in 1888 and welcomed his son-in-law into the business in 1916. A fire in 1931 destroyed the drugstore and second-story residences. this new building replaced it that same year, only to suffer damage during the Hurricane of 1938, when 69 inches of water flooded the building. The store closed in 1994, marking the end of an era.
